Happy Mario Kart World Music Monday!
...celebrated on a Tuesday.
For those not aware, ever since Mario Kart World finally hit Nintendo Music at the beginning of last month, we've been getting two music drops on the app per week. The traditional slot of Monday evening at 9PM EST that has been constant for pretty much every week since the app launched is now reserved for additional Free Roam tracks from Mario Kart World, while everything else has now been moved to Thursday evening at the same time for most weeks.
So, what I used to call 'Nintendo Music Monday' is now 'Mario Kart World Music Monday', and it remains one of my most anticipated parts of every week.
This week, we received the collections of remixes hailing from Super Mario World, Super Mario Land, Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, and Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3. That may sound like a whopper of a drop, but it's not as massive as the 4 new playlists make it seem at first glance.
The three Super Mario Land games only have a total of 4 remixes between them, with 2 and 3 having one remix a piece. Super Mario World is doing most of the heavy lifting here, with 12 new tracks. So, 16 new tracks in all this week, spread across 4 new playlists.
For the record, I kind of called Super Mario World's addition this week. You can choose whether or not to believe me, but I was specifically predicting Super Mario World, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, and Donkey Kong Country for this week's Free Roam drop... I'll take 1 out of 3.
On that note, I'll go ahead and make my prediction for next week: I feel Super Mario Sunshine is due on Nintendo Classics any week now, so why not accompany it with the Free Roam remixes from Sunshine, as well as Mario Kart: Double Dash. Why not throw in Super Circuit as well while we're at it, as it's from the same generation.
