Metroid Ravenous
That may well be the title of the next entry in the Metroid series, which, according to a listing posted by the Brazilian Ratings Board, could be coming exclusively to Nintendo Switch 2 sometime soon.
Now, I don't plan to cover leaks often, only weighing in when I feel strongly about a given leak's authenticity, which in this case, I do. With the source basically being the Brazilian government and the listing being swiftly removed, I'm fairly confident this is the real deal, simply because I can't see how something like this could be faked.
My first thought upon reading the subtitle 'Ravenous' was that this must be a follow-up to Metroid Dread, both because of the naming scheme being 'Metroid (blank)', and because the title makes sense with what happened in Dread.

In Dread, Samus essentially gains the powers of a Metroid because of the Metroid DNA in her body, said DNA being from the vaccine she got to dispel the X-Parasite in Fusion (I apologize if I have any of these details wrong, I'm no Metroid lore expert and it's been a while since I played Dread). Because of this, she's able to drain the lifeforce from her enemies, which I believe we see her do to some late-game Chozo soldiers, an EMMI, and the game's main antagonist and final boss, Ravenbeak. I believe the subtitle Ravenous likely has something to do with these new powers Samus now has, what with Metroid's being rather 'ravenous' creatures themselves.
I've also heard someone float the idea that the 'Raven' in 'Ravenous' could be alluding to Ravenbeak in some way, which could be interesting.
Personally, I always thought a cool idea for Metroid 6 would be if Samus's new Metroid powers caused the Galactic Federation to label her as a threat, turning against her. Samus would be forced to fight back against her former allies in a battle for survival. I think that would make for a highly compelling narrative where Samus has to grapple with the fact that she's truly alone in the universe. They could use that to really drive home the sense of isolation and loneliness that Metroid games excel at when at their best. Would a story like that fit the subtitle of 'Ravenous'? Personally, I think so.

All of that is to say that, while it could be something else, I believe this is highly likely to be Metroid 6, the next mainline entry in the 2D Metroid series, likely developed once again by MercurySteam. I am 100% down for this, as I loved Metroid Dread, and I'm currently playing through the prior title, Metroid Samus Returns on 3DS, for the first time, and it's also excellent. I can see why Nintendo had confidence in giving them the keys to Dread, and I'm confident they can deliver again! And with Dread celebrating its 5th anniversary this October, the timing certainly lines up.
If this is what I believe it to be, then hopefully we shouldn't have to wait too long to see it. I'd eye a theoretical September Direct as a potential reveal location, likely with a release in the first half of 2027.
